Biography

Luke Cunliffe has developed his expertise through combining his unique experience as an extreme runner and highly successful business person.

He spent nine years in the City of London in the insurance sector, initially in a technical capacity and latterly as a recruitment specialist. The following nine years were spent managing his own fitness training consultancy, during which time he began to compete in ultra-distance marathons.

In addition to running Cunliffe Associates, he now competes regularly in ultra-distance marathons in some of the world’s most dangerous environments. These include: The Amazon Jungle, The Sahara Desert, The Arctic, The Himalaya and The Alps.

He writes extensively about running for www.eventrate.com, the leading ultra-distance running website, and often contributes to Runners’ World magazine. He has also made numerous television and radio appearances on NOW Sport, BBC Radio 5 Live and LBC Radio.

Whilst working as a fitness consultant, Luke trained as a business coach in order to build a new platform for his skills as a motivator of people. He completed the Professional Business Coaches Programme at the School of Coaching, a joint venture between Myles Downey, one of Europe’s leading business performance coaches, and The Work Foundation - formerly The Industrial Society.

He believes that to achieve excellence in any business enterprise requires goal-setting, planning, strong personal leadership, good interpersonal relationships, focused action and detailed review.

He is an exceptional communicator who possesses great energy for his work. He believes that all individuals have the capacity for substantial growth, learning and development in the work environment, and is dedicated to helping people become excellent.
